Alysse’s Maternity Portraits

Maternity pictures, maternity portraits in nursery, outdoor maternity session, natural light maternity pictures

My sister and her husband are preparing for their first child.  I’m so excited for her and can’t wait til their little Everly Anne arrives!  Maternity portraits are best taken between weeks 32-36.  Much before 32 weeks and your baby bump isn’t prominent enough and after 36 weeks you begin to get uncomfortable.  Let’s be honest, you don’t exactly exude confidence and happiness when you are an extra 30 lbs; however every soon to be mom radiates something much different.  There is a tenderness and joy that every soon to be mother displays.

Alysse is almost 34 weeks in these portraits (Isn’t her bump the cutest thing ever)!   We scheduled her maternity portraits at the beginning of April because it put us at the perfect time frame for maternity pictures and we were hoping we would have some greenery and warmer weather for outdoor pictures.  The day we shot it was about 50 degrees with 50 mph wind gusts and sporadic rain showers.  Midwest weather…if you can’t beat it, join it…so we did.  We started the maternity session indoors in the nursery, added the dogs and then took the session outdoors.  The results are absolutely beautiful!  Check out the entire session here.

Sweet 16

16 year old girl portraits, portrait with cupcakes, Columbia City Photographer, Ft. Wayne Photographer, Portraits, Pageant Portraits, natural light pictures

Krisna won a gift certificate at a high school fundraiser.  They decided to get some sweet 16 portraits and some portraits to use for upcoming pageants of her daughter.  One of the requirements for the pageant portrait was to incorporate hobbies or activities that you were involved in.  Mikayla is in show choir and loves to bake.  So for these portraits she wore one of her show choir dresses and brought along some scrumptious props!  What a fun shoot!  Take a look at some of my favorites; the entire session can be viewed here.

Winter Engagement Portraits

Sarah and Cody were recently engaged and I couldn’t be more excited for them!  I’ve known Sarah for at least 7 years and she has been babysitting our kids for at least 6 years.  I was more than thrilled when she asked me to shoot their engagement portraits.  We were hoping to get some snowy engagement pictures but our midwest, unpredictable weather has been holding out on us.  The past couple of days we finally saw some snow and all of our schedules aligned.  The result was amazing winter engagement portraits.  We had took one break for an outfit change and thaw out.  By the time we were done all of our finger tips were red and mine are still tingling a little :).  Check out some of my favorite shots and don’t forget to view the entire engagement session here.

Our Family Picture 2015

Each year we do a family picture in the fall for our Christmas cards.  For the past several years my husband has participated in a fundraiser to raise awareness for men’s health called Movember.  This involves shaving his facial hair into a creepy mustache for the entire month of November!  Therefore, it is my personal mission to get our family pictures done before the mustache makes an appearance.  This year we planned our family photo shoot for mid October after church.  The trees in the woods behind our house were beautiful this year, so the location was  a no brainer.  We even took the dog (Grissom) with us this year and he was in several of the final portraits.  Here are some of my favorites from our Fall 2015 Family Woods Portrait Session:

It was several weeks later when I started looking for the perfect Christmas card.  Have you ever been drawn to that card that just isn’t fitting the photo you had in mind?  I quickly noticed all of the designs that I had chosen weren’t going to work with the beautiful pictures we had taken a month before.  Any other person would just choose a different style of Christmas card…Not me.  We had made plans to go out one evening as a family so I used the opportunity of clean hair, faces, and decent clothes to retake our photos specifically for the Christmas card designs I had chosen.  The only thing I couldn’t change was the mustache on my husbands face.  It was his payback for having to sit through another round of family pictures lol!  In the end it was totally worth it.  The family picture turned out great and I captured one of my all time favorite pictures of the kids!  I ordered my Christmas cards from Vistaprint this year.  They were good quality and an even better price.  I ordered from tinyprints last year and the quality was a little better, but the price was more too.  I also typically like tinyprint’s designs.  Depending on what you are looking for both have great options for Christmas cards.

Cora’s Newborn Portraits

newborn pictures, newborn girl portraits, Columbia City Photographer, Ft. Wayne Photographer, natural light newborn pictures, newborn family pictures

How precious are these little girl newborn shots!!!?  Sweet Cora was born on January 24th, 2 weeks before her due date.  She still came in at a healthy 7 lbs 1 oz and measured 20 inches.  She stole her parents hearts the moment she arrived.  As I was editing these images I couldn’t help but think I was looking at a mini Kelli :).  Cora looks just like her beautiful mother.

Cora’s newborn session went so smooth we were even able to get big brother, mom and dad in several shots.   Big brother Reid was all about sissy.   I think she is my most smiley newborn to date and I captured some of my favorite candid newborn shots ever.  Here are some of my favorites… view the entire session here.
